A Different Kind of King
As we journey through Passion Week—from Palm Sunday to Easter—we remember not only Christ’s sacrifice, but His final and powerful lesson on leadership.
In the upper room, during the Passover meal, Jesus did something unexpected.
He rose from the table, wrapped a towel around His waist, poured water into a basin, and began to wash His disciples’ feet.
Even the feet of the one who would betray Him.
This was not just humility—it was a redefinition of leadership.
“I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.” (John 13:15)

The Lesson We Often Miss
We faithfully observe Holy Communion—the bread and the cup.
But before that moment, there was a towel and a basin.
Jesus did not just teach servanthood—He demonstrated it.

A Challenge to Today’s Leaders
Today, we carry the title “servant of God.” Yet often, we find ourselves being served rather than serving.
● Do we lead by position or by example?
● Are we building people or building control?
● Are we raising followers or servant leaders?

Returning to Servanthood
When leaders begin to serve:
● Pride is broken
● Unity is restored
● Teams are strengthened
● True disciples are formed
The early church changed the world through servant leadership.

Closing Reflection
Before Jesus went to the cross, He knelt down.
True revival may begin the same way.

Prayer
Lord, teach us to lead like You. Give us the humility to serve, The courage to bend low, And the grace to love without condition.
Amen.
